Big Happenings

It is a long long time since I have been here.

Lots has happened in the meanwhile. Most of it is the usual trivia of day to day living, some was pretty bloody significant.

Two stand out above all the rest.

First, my son got married. After ten years (plus) of courtship, he finally married the love of his life on the last weekend of May. It is probably a story best told in pictures. We still haven't seen the "official" photos but I can share some snaps taken on the day (bless the inventor of digital cameras).

The flowers were beautiful.

The bride, of course, looked stunning.

And grinned through the whole day

The groom was not nervous at all but gulped a lot when he caught sight of his bride.

The bridesmaids all looked gorgeous

and even the groomsmen scrubbed up Ok for a bunch of bogans.

Both the dads were chuffed as

as were the mums

The cake was magnificent

Even the grandmother of the groom had a good time (not bad action for an 85yo).

Tegz and Gray glowed

and Bron and Jads looked wonderful in their roles as bridesmaid and groomsman

Young Alice looked a treat

Much to Gray's delight, Tegz caught the bouquet (which Alice confiscated the next morning)

The party that followed was a blast

The only low point for the day was the fact that our youngest daughter and her partner couldn't join us. It was disappointing for all concerned but she had a bloody good excuse.

And here it is...

Four days after the wedding she gave birth to a 9lb 2oz baby girl (seen here at less than a minute old in the arms of her paediatrician).

Dorothy Darling Paul was born on 03/06/09 which seems an auspicious date to me. She is long (and very well dressed)

Spends a great deal of time sleeping (even during tummy time on Daddy's chest)

and was already holding her head up at 2 weeks.

She is a bit of a poser

and as bright as a button.

I think she is practically perfect.

So, that pretty much brings me up-to-date. I think it is enough for one page.

lesson well learned

One of the hardest thing I ever had to learn to do was stand back and allow my kids to make mistakes. Unless people experience fuck-ups, disappointments and failure, they never really grow up. But, at time, my god, it breaks your heart to watch them struggle.

Some parents never learn that lesson.
