making progress
My Mum put her house on the market today.
The price seems ridiculously huge to me ($575K), especially for a wee little house like hers, but the agent said it should sell quickly. The area is in high demand and she has a large block.
It is all starting to happen. I feel happy. And relieved.
Mum will be with us soon.

Selling houses makes no sense at all. I sold my house right before the prices tanked this fall, though they had already started to slide. I put it on the market for $200K (it's less than 900 sq ft), which my neighbor's landlord told me was a steal at such a low price. I accepted the very first offer at $189,900 -- SOLD!! We'd bought it at $132K just four years before, and my neighbor told me two weeks after we sold the house, the prices in the neighborhood plummeted, and another home a few houses down that went on the market in August is still on the market. Go figure!!
I hope the house sells and she gets comfortably settled with you nice and quick-like!
House prices anywhere in Australia are totally crazy. What seems huge to you probably seems totally insurmountable to people who want to become home owners for the first time.
