He da Man

It seems to be the season for work changes for my mob.

My baby (as you know) is training up for her change of career. J has just headed off on some US naval ship for an exercise (his first time on board anything bigger than a ferry). Gray rang up about a job he saw in the paper here on Saturday (and took off in the ute for an interview that afternoon). Yesterday it was my only son's turn.

I got an email from the boy in the morning. He was still at work but needed to gloat to someone about his good fortune. I may have mentioned some time ago that he had created a program for his bosses (un-asked) that cut down the workload on their data entry people. Since then he has refined the program so that much of the process is now automated. As a result, he is saving the company shit-tins of money on paying casual data entry people. Yesterday the boss rewarded him.

He's been put in charge of a section and given a quite substantial pay rise. He's totally chuffed.

He decided he was more valuable to the company a few weeks ago and went into negotiation for an increase. He had a figure in mind but wasn't really confident that they would come to the party by that much. Yesterday they greatly surprised him by offering him considerably more. He got a 35% increase.

You da man, son!!

I have a crush on Lars Ulrich. ;o) I also play the piano and cello, and I own a soprano, an alto, and a tenor recorder. Alas it's been years since I touched any of them.

Congrats to your son!!! Kurt loves to do that kind of thing, come up with programs (especially using Excel) to cut down on the paperwork they have to do aboard ship. Unfortunately, Kurt's not eligible for a pay raise for it. ;o)

Do you know which ship or what kind of ship J's going to be on? It could be one Kurt's served aboard!!!
