Yum-oh
We went out to dinner last night with M's boss, a couple of workmates, their wives and some visiting overseas consultants. We went to Tansawa Tai in Northbridge.
Excuse me for a moment while I get the drool bucket just at the memory.
The menu was to die for. There were way too many things to have to settle for just one meal off the a la carte, so I got the Sakura banquet. Yum yum yum. Served with wafu salad and gohan, I got a steady stream of small taste plates to nibble on. Ebi no and hotategai tepanyaki, miso, prawn and vegetable tempura. I had cray and chicken off the BBQ and a wonderful assortment of hors d'oeuvres. It as followed up by icecream balls with plum sauce and red bean mash.I had to give the saki a miss because I was DD.
The food wasn't all that was good. It was a damn fine bunch of people to be with (excluding that one bloke).
It was also a very diverse group. There were 12 of us. 6 were Aussies born and bred. Of the other 6, every continent was represented. We had a South African and his Hing Kong born Chinese wife, now living in Perth. We has a Scot now living in rural Victoria. We had a Canadian born in Ukraine (he was the weird one, he was so socially inept, if I hadn't already known he was an engineer, I would have thought he was autistic). Then there was the Mexican who was born in Austria and raised in Uraguay. And of course the Kiwi who was originally a Pom.
Quite the little United Nations.
It was a good night. And my tummy went home feeling very happy

"he was the weird one, he was so socially inept, if I hadn't already known he was an engineer, I would have thought he was autistic." This comment really made me giggle. You've heard the old joke about what engineers use for sexual protection? Their personalities!! No offense meant to any of the engineers out there.
What kind of cuisine WAS that?
If you want to annoy an Austrian, call them an Australian. And vice-versa.
:)
If you want to insult a NZer, call them an Australian. Then run.
Not to sound like an ignorant Yankee, but what's a Kiwi and what's a Pom?
Your dinner sounds awesome!!!
