up, up and asleep

My last entry before heading off to the wilds of Townsville. By this time tomorrow I should be getting pretty close to landing and getting a good big hug from my Sergeant.

One more sleep to go and I get to have that sleep on a plane. Yep, it's the red eye to Brizzy tonight. I fly out at 0005!

I was discussing my flights with the other half and he made severe faces when he heard the times (I fly back in at 0230!). He looked so displeased at the thought of airport runs at those hours that I (half jokingly) suggested that I could drive myself and just park my car up at the airport whilst I'm gone. I nearly fell over backwards when he immediately agreed. 100+ bucks in parking fees to save him a sober night and a drive! HUMMPH.

I will do a quick fly round the place this afternoon and make sure the animals have a HUGE supply of food and water before I go and that the automatic top-up is working on the ponds. I can't do much about the aquarium, he will have to remember to turn lights on and off and feed them. The cats and dogs will let him know when it is feed time (they are persistent enough that he won't be able to ignore them). I can only keep my fingers crossed that they all survive my trip. Previously, when I have gone away, I've had a kid at home to take care of the animals. Only once I left him in charge. I came home to the pond having evaporated totally away (and all the fish dead in the mud) and half the bird dead in the aviary. Yep, fingers crossed.

Other than that, I am packed and ready. I've even packed a cardy as it has been bloody cold up there lately.

Townsville (and, more importantly, my B), here I come.
