getting packed
I hit the shops yesterday, buying up for my trip north. I had to get some summer type clothes and a new (smaller) case.
First I hit the bag shop. Lucky me, they had a sale on. I was looking for something not black, something reasonably easy to spot on the carousel. I found the ideal thing. It is one of those nice cases that can be expanded if you buy too many souvenirs but is nice and neat as just a case. It has pack-down straps inside and a couple of nice zip-up pockets. It is on wheels and is bright pink.
Perfect.
Then I went looking for shorts. Not much on the racks at this time of year but I found a few pairs of crop pants that were not too bad. I took a couple of examples and headed to the change room. Didn't I get a nice surprise? None of them fitted. They were all too BIG!
Back to the racks to replace them all. And out of the fat lady department (where I have shopped for more years that I can remember) and into the normal people sizes. Woohoo! Much more variety there. I found some cropped jeans, some navy cropped cargoes, some lovely pale sage coloured long-line shorts and a gorgeous light cotton skirt in a pale dusty blue. After many many years in the large lumpy department, I was totally chuffed to walk out with size 14 (that's about a 10 in the USA).
I also needed some Ts. There wasn't much that I fancied in the department store so I headed to Jeans West and Portmans. I got a couple of standard V neck Ts and a couple of the smocky type things that are popular at the moment (pretty much like I wore as high fashion in the 70s!).
Now my bag is half packed and it is only two more sleeps to go.

looks like you had a jolly time just shopping!!! the bag is only half packed? woo!!
Congratulations on your successful shopping trip. How nice to see the results of all your hard work, dieting and exercising! I love the smocky tops that are popular right now.
Great job in losing so much weight!!! I bet you look adorable in your new clothes. I always swore I would never get big enough to shop in the big women's department because my body shape is all wrong. I look like I'm wearing shapeless tents. I did get big enough for those clothes, but as soon as I had Grace I managed to get back into the normal sizes again. I've always been a big girl (at least a US size 14), but I'm slowly getting back to my high school weight. Now if only I can get my husband to stop going out for all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet! LOL
COngratulations! Isn't that fun, realizeing that you're even smaller than you thought? THat's so wonderful. Also, you get to go see your daughter with a bag full of new stuff. I love traveling with new clothes.
